This is it! The Grand Opening of ArtWorking is set for June 1 at 6 pm, in the ArtWorking Gallery at Ship Creek Center. (Suite 208)
This is your invitation to join with the volunteer ArtWorking staff and other contributing artists, to see the exhibit, share food and drink and, in general, to celebrate this exciting summer long project that will benefit Wendy’s Wonderful Kids, a program of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. ArtWorking will support a national effort to find permanent homes for children in the foster care. (A smaller part of the proceeds will go to set up a fund for artists who run workshops with youth here at the Ship Creek Center)
They have 38 entries in three categories (photography, painting/drawing, and mixed media). The show is in Suite 208 - the long corridor near the stage at Ship Creek Center.
This First Friday “kick off” of ArtWorking coincides with Summer Fridays at Ship Creek Center. All summer, Fridays will include live entertainment on the Ship Creek Center Stage during the day. The ArtWorking gallery as it is located right next to the stage.
The ArtWorking Grand Opening will begin at 6 pm. There will be live music on Ship Creek Center Stage and food served by our new on site restaurant, Taste of Africa.
Finally, Dawnell Smith of the Anchorage Daily News has been writing a feature article about ArtWorking. Look for it in the Art section of next Sunday’s paper.
This is going to be a fantastic event. Prizes will be given in three categories – with winners announced at the ArtWorking gallery event 1st Friday in July. ArtWorking will hang all summer as a silent auction event wrapping up with a gala celebration 1st Friday in September at Ship Creek Center.
